The McPherson Board of Public Utilities is currently accepting applications for the position of Customer Service Technician in our Customer Service Department.
Education and Experience Required
-High school diploma
-Basic computer/iPad skills and familiarity with Word and Excel preferred
-Excellent communication skills
-Must possess and maintain a valid Kansas driver’s license
Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
- Wears BPU approved apparel including uniforms.
- Obtains meter readings on electric and water meters as requested.
- Must have basic knowledge in the use of an iPad and its functions.
- Ability to learn the company practices used in both the water and electrical service work.
- Responsible for the daily pickup and delivery of mail to and from the Post Office and the City offices.
- Responsible for daily delivery of bank deposits to the appropriate financial institution.
- Ability to interact with customers in a sometimes-controversial environment for the purpose of collecting payments and/or disconnecting electrical and water services for nonpayment, both remotely and manually.
- Ability to read, disconnect, and reconnect water and electric meters both remotely and manually.
- Has a general knowledge of the policies and procedures of the BPU.
- Acknowledges some adverse working conditions may exist including inclement weather conditions and aggressive animals.
- Completes water leak service orders, communicating results with both the customer and Customer Service Department.
- Maintains garage, truck, and BPU equipment used by the Customer Service Technician.
- Responsible for basic building maintenance and other office duties as needed.
- Responsible for clearing parking lot walkways, including removal of snow, leaves, etc.
- Maintains excellent communication skills and good working relationships with all departments of the BPU.
Wage Range: $20.00/hr. to $25.00/hr. – Based on experience and qualifications.
