The McPherson Board of Public Utilities delivers some of the lowest-cost and most reliable power and water in the State. However, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do as well as we do without our people. For this reason, we want to showcase those people who significantly impact our business and community with an “Employee Spotlight.”
On Wednesday, the 26th, it was announced that the recipient of July’s Employee of the Month was Jeff Clark. Jeff is the Senior Crew Chief of the Power Plant Maintenance team and has served the McPherson BPU and its customers for 15 years.
Jeff grew up in Argonia, Kansas, and went to Northwest Kansas Area Technical School in Goodland, earning his Journeyman Electrician license. A job offer from one of the electricians in town brought Jeff to McPherson, where he worked for them for 15 years. During that time, he had the opportunity to work alongside the McPherson BPU on projects and was impressed with their knowledge and work ethic. Jeff says, he made it a personal goal to get hired after one of his friends got hired by the BPU, and in every interaction, that friend would mention what a fantastic company BPU was.
When asked what his favorite part about working for the utility provider, he stated, “I enjoy the wide range of work we perform. The diversity of tasks and jobs keeps us challenged and our skills sharp in many areas. I have had the opportunity to work with great people and have expanded my skill set tremendously since being hired”. When asked what he would say to anyone considering a job at the McPherson BPU; he said, “The BPU provides unique opportunities and challenges. We are a friendly and family-oriented company that takes pride in their employees and their accomplishments”.
Outside of work, besides spending time with his family and friends, he enjoys hunting, fishing, and playing golf!
Per our General Manager, Josh Bedel: “Jeff Clark is a dedicated and exceptional employee. As our Senior Crew Chief of the Power Plant Maintenance group, Jeff helps lead a group of mechanics and electricians who essentially work on everything from replacing light bulbs to completely overhauling combustion turbine generators. Outside of managing our maintenance group, Jeff is a highly skilled electrician and mechanic who can take on any assignment. Jeff’s attitude and willingness to help everyone is truly the essence of what makes him deserving of this accolade. The BPU and our community truly benefit from having an employee of Jeff’s caliber.”
Thank you, Jeff, for serving the BPU and the McPherson Community.
