The McPherson Board of Public Utilities delivers some of the lowest-cost and most reliable power and water in the State. However, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do as well as we do without our people. For this reason, we want to showcase those people who significantly impact our business and community with an “Employee Spotlight.”
On Thursday, the 27th, it was announced that the recipient of April’s Employee of the Month was Eric Goering. Eric is a Substation and Plant Controls Technician in the Substation and Plant Controls Department. He has been employed with the BPU for seven years!
Eric grew up in McPherson and knew he wanted a career that allowed him to give back to the community where he was raised. So, when a position opened up at the BPU that fit his background and skill set as a Plant Electrician, he applied! The decision to come work for the McPherson Board of Public Utilities has been a positive one for Eric. When asked what his favorite part about working for the utility provider, he stated, “I really enjoy troubleshooting and working to overcome any challenges that arise .” When asked what he would say to anyone considering a job at the McPherson BPU, he said, “ It’s a great place to be. They offer growth opportunities and encourage you to learn new skills which you can put to work immediately with other dedicated employees”. Outside of work, Eric enjoys riding his motorcycle, going to the lake, and rock climbing!
Per our General Manager, Josh Bedel: “Eric is a highly intelligent and valuable member of the BPU’s team. On a daily basis Eric interacts with microprocessor relays that protect our substations and intricate control systems that run our combustion turbines. Eric is always looking to be challenged and is never afraid of new technology. Most of the time he’s seeking it out. Eric was a very integral part of building and commissioning our newest substation, Mohawk Substation. He’s technical ability shows in everything he does, and when problems arise I’m always confident Eric and his team members have the skills to troubleshoot and correct the issue. Eric is a truly gifted individual and a well deserving recipient of this accolade.”
Thank you, Eric, for your service to the BPU and the McPherson Community.
